Designed for Double-Layer Drywall Applications with Measured Performance

ZXLM5 is a member of the MagicToggles family, specifically engineered for double-layer drywall installations.

It is designed for wall and ceiling applications where the combined drywall thickness ranges from approximately 20 mm to 31 mm, covering common North American drywall combinations using 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8" gypsum board.

Engineering-Grade Performance Data While many brands only advertise "ultimate failure load," JMTM developed both pull-out and controlled-displacement shear testing. While ultimate failure loads are useful, real-world applications often depend more on how much load an anchor can support before noticeable movement occurs. For this reason, ZXLM5 was evaluated at multiple displacement levels during shear testing. A displacement of 1 mm is generally negligible in many practical hanging applications. A displacement of 2 mm remains relatively small and may still be acceptable depending on the installation requirements. A displacement of 3 mm becomes visually noticeable and may exceed the acceptable movement limit for many wall-mounted applications.

In our standardized testing on 24mm double-layer drywall:

At just 1mm of displacement (a sag practically invisible to the naked eye and fully acceptable for installation), the ZXLM5 securely holds 445N (approx. 100 lbs) of shear force.

At 2mm of displacement (the critical borderline for acceptable installation), it withstands an impressive 977N (approx. 220 lbs).

When combined with pull-out test results, these measurements provide a more complete understanding of anchor performance under practical service conditions.

Designed for Dynamic EnvironmentsBecause the ZXLM5 deploys a solid toggle behind the drywall rather than relying on friction, it provides exceptional resistance to vibrations and variable dynamic loads. When installed within the recommended safety factor of the ultimate load, it is highly reliable for downward vertical loads on ceilings.

Professional Note: All MagicToggles performance data is directly tied to the structural integrity and quality of the drywall itself. Tests are fully reproducible when using standard-strength drywall and following proper installation procedures.
